The Lions Club Antique Auto Hill Climb Queen Pageant is an event for choosing a woman from a group of qualified contestants to reign as The Hill Climb Queen for the following Hill Climb year. The pageant is held on the Sunday prior to the 1st day of each annual Hill Climb at the Newport Library auditorium. The Hill Climb year runs from the crowning of the new Queen at the pageant until the following year when a new Queen is chosen and crowned.

The Newport Antique Auto Hill Climb Queen contestants will be judged on personality and beauty. This judging will be divided into two divisions. Division I, Interview with the Judges: Ability to Converse, 40 points; Personality, 40 points; Poise, 30 points; Business Wear, 25 points; Division II, On-Stage Performance: Costume Fashion, 30 points; Pop Interview Question, 35 points. There is a total of 200 points. Judges decisions are final.
The Queen will receive her crown, Queen's banner, the trophy, flowers, a cash prize, along with other prizes as determined by the directors. As the Good-Will Ambassador of the Newport Lions Club, the Queen will be invited to all Lions Club Ladies’ Night functions and other official events at the expense of the club.
The Queen will serve as official hostess during the Hill Climb Festival Weekend. She must also agree to appear for and on behalf of the Newport Lions Club or the directors of the Pageant Committee in her official capacity as requested throughout the year, until her successor is crowned.
The Queen, if eligible, will represent the Newport Antique Auto Hill Climb in the upcoming Indiana State Festival Association Scholarship Pageant, held in November each year during their annual convention. If for any reason the Queen is unable to discharge the duties of her title, she will forfeit all her prizes and title to the First Runner-Up, who will assume all duties assigned to the Queen until the next Queen is crowned. Should the First Runner-Up also be unable to assume the duties of the Queen, succession will follow to the Second Runner-Up, etc.
The contestants will vote for one contestant as the recipient of the Miss Congeniality Award.
The judges will select one contestant as the winner of the Costume Fashion Judging portion of the Pageant.
To qualify a contestant:
1. Must reside in Vermillion, Parke or Fountain Counties.
2. Must be between 16 years of age and 22 years of age on the day of the pageant.
3. Must have never been married.
4. Must not be a professional model who earns her livelihood by modeling. (A woman who works for a high school or college fashion board is not considered a professional model.)
5. Must remit a contest entry application to the Hill Climb Committee in time for them to receive it on or before September 1, along with a $5.00 entry fee.
6. Must be available to appear for and on behalf of the Newport Lions Club or the directors of the Pageant Committee in her official capacity as requested throughout the year and until her successor is crowned.
If you know a young woman who is eligible to enter please encourage her to do so. Contestants are chosen from the residents of Vermillion, Parke, and Fountain counties in Indiana. The pageant is open to everyone and you are encouraged to attend and support your contestant.
